BLAST FROM THE PAST
by Toni L.P. Kelner

Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Mystery

RT Rating

Tilda Harper is a fun heroine with an ironic sense of humor. The mystery is well plotted and filled with intriguing characters whose interactions are plausible and entertaining. The opening “flash forward” to the murder scene grabs your attention. However, the next few chapters, which drop back to events leading up to the murder, seem slow compared to such a dramatic opening.

When journalist Tilda Harper accepts a public relations assignment from a movie production crew, she witnesses a murder. Emotions run high and tempers flare over past connections among the moviemakers and former colleagues who haven’t been as successful as actor John Laryea, who is starring in the current project.

Nick Tolomeo, Tilda’s possibly-not-so-ex-boyfriend, ends up in the middle of the investigation when Laryea and his assistant are struck by a speeding limo — a limo that Tilda realizes belongs to the company run by Nick and his father. (PRIME CRIME, Feb., 294 pp., $7.99)
