BLESSING (2) by Deborah Bedford: Uley Kirkland saves the marshal’s life. But things are not as they appear — Aaron Brown was not attempting to kill the marshal, and Uley is not the boy everyone believes her to be. In jail, Aaron promises not to divulge Uley’s secret if she will run errands for him. Meanwhile, Uley struggles to understand her feelings for Aaron. This revised 2005 reissue is a bit bogged down by a scared heroine who is unwilling to reveal her secret to possibly save the hero’s life. And the fact that the hero is tried as a murderer when he didn’t kill anyone is difficult to accept.
