Investigative reporter Kelly Robolo is still recuperating from a gunshot wound that put her at odds with the Philadelphia Police Force. Ever since a police officer was killed, her life has been filled with constant harassment, threats and vandalism.

Nick McBride blames Kelly for his partners death. Then Kelly gets a call that her best friends husband didnt come home one night. Kelly is thrown into the search for the Atlantic City businessman, and goes to Nick for help. Coincidences between this case and the death of his father strike him. Both men worked for a casino owner who had been a reputed member of the mob.

Many people want to see Kelly and Nick fail and they cant seem to trust anyone except each other. And the attraction they discover cant be hidden any longer.

Ms. Heggan will once again thrill readers. She masterfully weaves a tale with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing from first page to last. (Jan., 408 pp., $6.50)
