In the second Shaede Assassin novel, heroine Darian’s loner mentality and stubbornness lead to unexpected ramifications that threaten not only her life, but her love. Up-and-comer Bonilla adds another layer to her intriguing world, packed with treachery and hard-edged danger. Hang on, Darian’s journey looks like it’ll be a very bumpy one!

After learning of the existence of the Shaede Nation, assassin Darian has had some adjusting to do. She and her new Shaede guardian, Raif, have been hunting for the oracle Delilah, who escaped after a failed coup attempt. When Darian finally captures the half-crazed oracle, Delilah hints that Raif’s long-missing daughter, Brakae, is not dead. Darian becomes obsessed with finding Brakae, and that obsession is beginning to damage her relationship with Tyler, her jinn lover. Delilah also issues a cryptic warning: Beware the man from the ring. Sadly, in her single-minded quest, Darian is wading into dangerous territory, where the repercussions from her actions could lead to devastating consequences. (SIGNET ECLIPSE, Jul., 336 pp., $7.99)
