The accidental discovery of a suitcase containing the skeleton of a young child stirs up ugly echoes of the past for Olivia Sealy. Twenty-five years ago, her parents were murdered and she was kidnapped by a man who was subsequently caught and imprisoned. The grisly find raises many questions, since it's clear that the murdered child was a relative. Is Olivia who she thinks she is? Did the kidnapper have an accomplice? What really happened the night her parents died?

Her quest to find the answers makes Olivia a target, but she has the support of her remaining family and Trey Bonney, her first love and now the detective attached to the case. Will it be enough to keep her alive?

Though Olivia is a little saccharine, her travails are very involving—and there's a lovely twist at the end. Overall, top-notch, ripped-from-the-headlines drama. (Apr., 384 pp., $7.50)
