Book Review

A refreshing departure from an oversaturation of vampire tales, Bloodlines focuses on modern alchemists in a world that also includes vampires. Though a spin-off of Mead’s Vampire Academy series, new readers will have no trouble jumping right in. The story is populated with strong characters, intriguing politics and a healthy dose of high school drama. A fun, new series not to be missed.

After being blackmailed into helping a wrongfully accused vampire, alchemist Sydney Sage is on thin ice among her own kind. She’s surprised, then, when instead of being sent to re-education camp, she’s given the assignment to guard a vampire princess while posing as her sister at a Palm Springs boarding school. She’s soon embroiled in an alchemist mystery while struggling with budding vampire friendships, a fellow alchemist out to get her and the perils of high school life.
