Without question, the evolution of half vamp/half mage Sabina Kane has been a journey well worth the trip! From loner to a committed friend/lover Sabina has made drastic changes. Wells concludes her terrific UF series in spectacular fashion, ensuring fans will be completely satisfied. “Team Awesome” is at full strength, and the supporting players flesh out the story and give resonance to the gathering peril. Wells hits the sweet spot in combining wise-ass humor and mind-numbing danger. It’s outstanding!

Following her twin sister Maisie’s death, Sabina becomes even more focused on destroying the man who killed her: Cain. In order to defeat him, Sabina must locate the mysterious “Abel,” who was last thought to be in Italy. Sabina, her mage lover Adam Lazarus and her demon minion Gighul are on the hunt, but finding out the truth regarding Abel is a real shocker. Adding to Sabina’s problems, she owes a god a favor, and his insistence on collecting is making her life very difficult. The confrontation with Cain is coming, and now Sabina will find out the hard way if the prophecy about her being the “chosen” is correct! (ORBIT, Jun., 458 pp., $7.99)
