Rainey’s three novellas are threaded together with scorching BDSM and erotic fantasies. The format unfortunately means that the stories are slightly short-changed on three-dimensional characters and believable plots.
Three friends make a wager that leads them all down new sexual paths. For straight-laced legal secretary Lydia Burke, having sex with a stranger fulfills her “Secret Desires” when she goes to a local BDSM club. She has sex with three hooded strangers, only to find out that one of them is a man she has been lusting after for years. Roni Smart, a sexually open dominatrix, discovers more about herself and love when she submits to the magical fingers and lips of Jake, a computer whiz, in “Turn Me On.“ Coffee shop owner Jeanette Williams has had the hots for the biker guy who shows up each morning. When he finally makes a move, she’s only too happy to share “Tasty Treats” with him. (APHRODISIA, Jun., 256 pp., $14.00)
