THE BONES OF AVALON
by Phil Rickman

Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Mystery, Historical

RT Rating

This wonderful stand alone immediately draws the reader into danger and mystery, focused on Dr. John Dee, astrologer to Elizabeth I. If readers are lucky, this will turn into a series featuring one of the most fascinating historical figures of the period.

Dr. Dee has been asked to go to Glastonbury and find the missing bones of King Arthur, which will strengthen Queen Elizabeth’s claim to the throne. Interested in his studies, quiet and naturally withdrawn, Dee wants to be left alone but he can’t turn down the request. His former student Robert Dudley, rumored to be the Queen’s lover, will go with him. Glastonbury is still recovering from the gruesome execution of their beloved abbot, and more deaths follow. Magic and fear abounds and Dee can only hope to survive the experience. (MINOTAUR, Jun., 384 pp., $25.99)
