In The Boss's Baby Surprise (4), Lilian Darcy uses magical realism to create suspense and add a bit of whimsy to this story, about a straitlaced executive and his equally buttoned-up assistant. Nick, a highly successful owner of a chain of restaurants, doesn't approve of mixing business and pleasure. Celie, the perfect assistant, admires this rule until she starts having strange dreams and decides to let down her hair. When a baby enters the equation in a very unusual way, their lives are transformed. Darcy's writing is flawless and her way with tiny details gives insight into these charming characters.
