After years of saving for her son Joey's eye operation, waitress Ginny Morgan is desperate to get the rest of the money. John Mitchell Holden is a rich Texan with cash to spare, and Ginny, though ill, embarks on a road trip from Florida to see him. The man she finds, however, is not the Mitch she met long ago on a spring-break fling. When Ginny collapses from her fever, this stranger bearing his name takes her in. He even offers to pay for Joey's operation if Ginny works as his temporary secretary. THE BOSS'S CONVENIENT PROPOSAL (4), by Barbara McMahon, is an engaging read. Despite its contrivances, the leads share real chemistry, and readers will find themselves rooting for them.
