Tristan Thorpe is positive his stepmother Vanessa is a gold digger who
married his father for the wrong reasons
in Bronwyn Jameson's The Bought-and-Paid-For Wife (3), part of the Secret Lives of Society Wives series. But when the Australian athlete travels to the affluent Connecticut town to contest his father's will, he finds himself falling under the spell of Vanessa's warm heart. Vanessa doesn't want a battle, but the inheritance will allow her to care for her mentally ill brother. Though the story
has potential, Tristan's turnaround is
too quick and Vanessa's emotional immaturity is grating.
