A BREATH OF FROST
by Alyxandra Harvey

Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal, Historical

RT Rating

A Breath of Frost is a breath of fresh air. Part historical, part paranormal, Harvey’s Lovegrove Legacy series debut has much going for it, not the least of which are smart writing and an intriguing storyline with lots of adventure and suspenseful action. Although there is a lot going on in this book, and the narrative switches between several POVs, persisting is well worth the payoff. The romantic scenes between Emma and Cormac are particularly addictive. A fabulous beginning to a series that has a lot of promise!

In Regency London, cousins Gretchen, Emma and Penelope have just claimed their witch powers. Yet by doing so, they’ve accidentally opened the gates to the underworld and caused the Order to be hot on their trail. The worst of it: The spirits of the Greymalkin witch sisters are now able to freely roam and acquire souls. It’s paramount that they close the gate. With the Order and Cormac both keeping tabs on her, Emma is right in the thick of things. (WALKER, Jan., 496 pp., $17.99, ISBN: 9780802734433, HC, 12 & Up)
