An interesting premise, young star-crossed lovers who reconnect years later, lacks the needed execution to make this book believable and interesting. The characters spend more time being angry about the past rather than creating a new, healthy connection. Although the story alludes to a close friendship, it is not evident in the storyline.

Anna Morelli has made some mistakes. Recently widowed, she and her young children travel to her closest friend’s winery to get her life back together. The only problem is, she still remembers the love Jace and she shared as teenagers. In the past, as the boy from the wrong side of the tracks, Jace Willow wanted to prove himself before committing to a relationship. However, his neglect and pride cost him more than Anna’s love. Can proximity help the two find a way to let go and create a stronger relationship? (SAMHAIN, Dec., 200 pp., $14.00)
