A BRIDE FOR KEEPS
by Melissa Jagears

Genre: Inspirational, Historical Romance

RT Rating

Beautiful, descriptive writing makes for excellent storytelling in Jagears’ debut. Everett and Julia are two stubborn, strong-willed yet vulnerable characters at the center of a story about surrender and love. With a well-crafted plot, Jagears deftly expresses the characters’ struggle to overcome feelings of self-doubt on their journey toward God and each other.

Everett Cline meets his fourth mail-order bride: the genteel Julia Lockwood. Rejected by two previous mail-order brides, he assumes she will run, too. Julia accepts the offer to become Everett’s wife as a means to escape the life she was living in Boston. Both have been beaten down and rejected and neither feels worthy of love. But unexpectedly the emotion forms between them. (BETHANY HOUSE, Oct., 336 pp., $14.99)
