Running her late father's ranch almost singlehandedly suits Corrie Davis but leaves her unprepared to deal with the Merrick brothers. Shane is her longtime friend, and Nick, who runs their spread, once warned Corrie not to pin her hopes on his brother. Both seem intent on romancing her, but Corrie prefers Nick. Even so, she's smart enough to avoid becoming The Bride Prize (4). Susan Fox paints a lovely, detailed portrait of Corrie, making the reader ache for her—and admire her grit. Nick starts out seeming arrogant and manipulative, but is redeemed… eventually.
