THE BRIDESMAID’S SECRET
THE BRIDESMAID’S SECRET (4.5) by Fiona Harper: As a teenager, fashion editor Jackie Patterson loved designer Romano Puccini to distraction — and bore his child alone, never knowing that he didn’t receive the letter telling him she was pregnant. Now Jackie’s back in their hometown for her cousin’s wedding, and learns the truth. Telling Romano he’s a father isn’t easy — and neither is facing the fact that she still loves him. Harper covers familiar territory here, but in a fresh and believable way. It’s the subtle shadings of characterization that make the story work, as well as the sensitive handling of key plot points. A keeper.
