RT Rating
A wonderfully talented author presents a soothing picture of Wales in this cozy. Fans of Louise Penny will love this book. There’s plenty of intrigue to keep you turning pages into the night. The mystery is sharp and tangled and the characters sharp and interesting.
Penny Brannigan continues with her new life in Wales as she and her best friend Victoria buy land to open a spa in the charming Welch village she moved to when she left Canada. When cleaning out the cottage she inherited from her good friend Emma, Penny finds letters that allude to an affair Emma had with artist Alys Jones in 1967. When Penny learns that Alys died in an unsolved hit-and-run, she decides to track down the killer. As she becomes embroiled in a mystery involving an old photograph, hidden letters, stolen paintings and love that couldn’t be acknowledged in the ‘60s, she continues to progress in her relationship with the handsome Det. Inspector Gareth Davies. (MINOTAUR, Aug., 288 pp., $23.99)
