Assistant District Attorney Natalie Vaughn has moved to Pennsylvania to find a safe place to raise her son. She is assigned a case prosecuting a minor drug dealer. Lieutenant Dylan Creighton believes that arrest will lead him to Zane Conroy, a crime boss whom he blames for his wife's death. Bulletproof Hearts (2) by Brenda Harlen, has some suspense and excitement, especially at the end. One major problem is the disconnect between the serious plot and the light, sexual banter that almost immediately starts between Natalie and Dylan. Other than sexual attraction, there is little to bring them together at first, and the relationship feels artificial, with no believable passion.
