BURIAL AT SEA
While the mystery itself is interesting enough, this book takes entirely too long to reach the climax. The time period, the 1830s, and the fact that the story takes place overseas, can make the language of the book difficult to understand at times.
Members of Parliament are mysteriously killed and the remain-ing members ask Charles Lenox, a retired detective, to find out what happened. He must sail with his nephew to Egypt but the murder of a crew member on the first night forces Lenox to change his course. In the midst of the lying, killing and secrets, Lenox is determined to catch the bad guys and make it back home to his pregnant wife. (MINOTAUR, Nov., 320 pp., $24.99)
