Book Review

by Sherry Thomas

Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal

RT Rating

After years wowing the historical romance crowd, Thomas makes the move to YA, and the resulting novel is not to be missed. The first of a trilogy, the novel combines a magical realm, 19th-century England and an adorable romance. A few moments of confusion don’t mar a perfect ending — one that still leaves room for a sequel. A tale rich with magic, intrigue and romance.

Iolan the Seabourne has the potential to be the greatest mage seen in millennia. Prince Titus is aware of a prophecy that leads to his own death — and to the end of the occupation of the nation he loves by tyranny that shows no signs of improvement. Iolan and Titus will come together, however unwillingly, to save their people and the only home they’ve ever known. (BALZER + BRAY, Sep., 464 pp., $17.99, ISBN: 9780062207296, HC, 14 & Up)
