BUSTED FLUSH
by George R.R. Martin, ed.

Genre: Fantasy, Anthology

RT Rating

The second book in the new Wild Cards trilogy -- and the 19th in the series -- delivers new heroes and brings back some old ones. Complex plot twists and wry humor provide an entertaining read for fans of comic books as well as heroic fantasy. This is a mix of short stories by different authors revolving around a central theme. Contributors include Melinda Snodgrass, Caroline Spector, Carrie Vaughn, Walton Simons and Ian Tregillis, John Jos. Miller, Victor Milan, Stephen Leigh and Kevin Andrew Murphy.

In 1946 an alien virus killed 90 percent of those infected; nine percent mutated and one percent gained superpowers. Among that one percent is a group of heroes assembled by John Fortune. Known as the Committee, they're willing to offer aid wherever needed, including to a hurricane-torn New Orleans, a small town in Texas
and a violent Middle East. (TOR, Dec.,
