Here’s an interesting look behind the scenes of talent management, high fashion and sports. The characters are interesting and well rounded and it’s a fascinating look at how the other half lives.

Twenty-year-old Seneca “Butterfly” Houston is on the verge of realizing many of her dreams, but how high can she fly? Discovered by a photographer while she was a college student, Seneca’s on a path to superstardom as a runway and print model. But she never loses sight of who she is or what her ultimate life goals are, even when the men she encounters don’t have her best interests at heart or her family isn’t supportive. Seneca plows ahead and makes mistakes but she is woman enough to acknowledge those missteps and correct course. (KIMANI/ARABESQUE, Aug., 320 pp., $14.95)
