Intense, edgy and passionate, this is old-school historical romance at its finest. But it may not be for sensitive readers because of the graphic nature of Desi's experiences before she meets Caine.

Hired to rescue three kidnapped women from outlaws, Texas Ranger Caine Allen and his friends aren't optimistic about their chances for success. They aren't counting on the will -- or the survival skills -- of Desdemona Blake. Desi's reluctance to return home to her guardian, James Haddock, comes as another surprise. But when Caine meets the man, he understands, and then marries Desi to protect her.

Back on the property occupied by Caine and his family of friends, Desi's a hard worker and a willing bed partner, but she won't give Caine what he wants most -- her trust and the truth about what she needs and feels. Desi doesn't believe their marriage will last, and her mind's occupied by dreams of finding her twin
sister, lost to her 356 long days ago
in a Comanchero raid. Caine plans to win Desi over -- and to make those dreams come true, if he can. (Spice,
