In this followup to last year's In Camelot's Shadow, Zettel spins another unique tale based on Arthurian legend. Elen, daughter of a Welsh chieftain, returns from a journey into the land of Faerie to find her family murdered and the ambitious chieftain Urien ruling their cantrev.

Elen swears vengeance on Urien and his lover, Morgaine le Fay, but Morgaine puts Elen under a curse that leaves her Urien's slave. Arthur sends Sir Geraint of the Round Table to rescue Elen, unknowingly playing into Morgaine's plan to destroy Arthur and Camelot once and for all. Trapped in the court of a treacherous faerie king, Elen and Geraint grow closer as they struggle to break the curse and save the kingdom.

Fans of the first Camelot novel will love this companion volume. Although light in comparison to Zettel's outstanding Isavalta series, this is an exciting and seductive journey laced with plenty of magic and romance for fans of both genres. (Apr., 384 pp., $13.95)
