Book Review

A CAPTAIN FOR LAURA ROSE
by Stephanie Grace Whitson

Genre: Inspirational, Historical Romance

RT Rating

This stand-alone novel has all the makings of a great romance: love, intrigue, mystery and unforgettable characters. Whitson’s historical details on female riverboat captains are incredible. She brings to life a long-gone way of life on the river when women far superior than their male counterparts had to prove their worth.

Laura Rose White knows she is a skilled steamboat pilot since her father made sure to teach her everything he knew. As a woman, she’s not allowed to pilot on her own, and unfortunately the only person available to watch over her is Finn MacKnight. Finn is aware of his terrible reputation, and he’ll do anything to prove to Laura that she can depend on him to help her salvage her family business. It will take both of them to make a boat run on time to prove to the investors what they’ve got. (FAITHWORDS, Mar., 336 pp., $15.00)
