THE CAPTIVE HEART
by Dale Cramer

Genre: Inspirational, Contemporary Romance

RT Rating

Would you risk your life for those you love — even if that relationship is forbidden? That is what the characters must answer in Cramer’s second installment in the Daughters of Caleb Bender series. The reader may be left to ponder whether or not murder is justified if it is to save another. One hopes that the many loose ends in The Captive Heart will be tied up in a sequel.

Caleb Bender and his family are trying to start an Amish community in Mexico. His daughter Miriam is quite fond of Domingo, Caleb’s Mexican hired hand, even though a relationship with a non-Amish man could cause Miriam to be placed under the Bann. When Caleb’s daughter Rachel is captured by bandits, Domingo offers to find her, as he has the utmost respect for Caleb and his family. When Domingo disappears, Miriam must evaluate her feelings. Will she follow her heart or her head? (BETHANY HOUSE, Jan., 352 pp., $14.99)
