Despite saving the world on several occasions, Private Kaylin Neya seems doomed to never get promoted. Her lack of court manners, while making her an irreverent and endearing character, could also get her killed. This mesmerizing series, which is episodic in nature, places the focus this time on dragons and the evolving Fief of Tiamaris. Sagara stirs together an abundance of adventure, action and humor to produce one extraordinary story … with the bonus of introducing a highly intriguing new character. An utter gem!

Although Kaylin tamed the Devourer, there is still the problem of the 3,000 eight-foot-tall armed refugees. The resettlement of the Norannir in the Fief of Tiamaris is not going smoothly. However they are helping fight the encroachment of the deadly shadows. During one confrontation with the shadows, Kaylin uses her burgeoning powers to grab control of a mysterious man called Maggaron to pull him from shadow control. Kaylin and Severn are also tasked with solving several mysterious deaths. For they now have seven bodies of the same woman. To unlock this mystery Kaylin will need to accept and utilize her Chosen powers like never before. (LUNA, Sep., 384 pp., $14.95)
