CASUAL HEX

RT Rating

Thompson fans won't be disappointed with her latest very charming addition to the Hex series, an entertaining tale of magic and mayhem in a small Indiana town. Yet while the lead characters are fun, they're not compelling -- nor is their romantic conflict. Matchmaking witches Dorcas and Ambrose and their posse of unlikely characters are the real stars of the story and make this an enjoyable tale.

Gwen Dubois is being set
up. Matchmaking witches Dorcas and Ambrose are on a quest to join her
with her soul mate, Marc Chevalier,
a botanist who lives in France. To motivate him to come to Big Knob, Ind.,
they cast a spell on tropical plants and coax him to the wintry Midwest to study the anomaly.

Their plot is almost foiled when Prince Leo of the Atwood fairy kingdom also sets his sights on the slightly nerdy yet beautiful and passionate Gwen. Can a little luck and a whole lot of magic get Marc and Gwen together, or will circumstance and a troublesome fairy prince thwart true love? (ONYX, Mar., 336
