Thompson fans won't be disappointed with her latest very charming addition
to the Hex series, an entertaining tale of magic and mayhem in a small Indiana town. Yet while the lead characters are fun, they're not compelling -- nor is their romantic conflict. Matchmaking witches Dorcas and Ambrose and their posse of unlikely characters are the real stars of the story and make this an enjoyable tale.
Their plot is almost foiled when Prince Leo of the Atwood fairy kingdom also sets his sights on the slightly nerdy yet beautiful and passionate Gwen. Can a little luck and a whole lot of magic get Marc and Gwen together, or will circumstance and a troublesome fairy prince thwart true love? (ONYX, Mar., 336 pp., $7.99)
