Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Mystery, Amateur Sleuth

RT Rating

The latest Midnight Louie mystery is packed with history, both ongoing and new family drama, and readers may need a chart to keep track. Luckily the feline sleuth provides plenty of help and backstory along the way. The human love triangle has bittersweet edges, and the capers fill out the series’ big picture. Midnight Louie fans should sink their claws into this read.

Feline sleuth Midnight Louie and his PR dynamo human Temple Barr leave Sin City for Chicago to meet her fiancé Matt Devine’s family. But her future in-laws are the least of Temple’s problems. Back in Vegas, her former flame Max Kinsella is hot on the trail of some cold cases — pretty impressive for a recovering amnesiac. After one dead body, two catnappings and countless family secrets, Midnight Louie is ready to pounce! (FORGE, Aug., 368 pp., $24.95)
