CAVANAUGH PRIDE (3) by Marie Ferrarella: Detective Frank McIntyre isn't happy that Detective Julianne White Bear is assigned to his serial killer case. His new stepfather, chief of detectives Brian Cavanaugh, has asked him to head the investigation, and Frank thinks his work is being questioned. At the same time, he's drawn to Julianne, but some of her activities don't seem pertinent to the investigation. Julianne pushes to be included in the case for a personal reason and, attraction or not, she's not going to let this opportunity go. A return to the Cavanaugh Justice is always welcome with this terrific group of characters. But this story falls short, and the romance doesn't get the opportunity to fully develop, so it feels rushed at the conclusion.
