CAVANAUGH REUNION (3) by Marie Ferrarella: Detective Ethan O’Brien, a newly realized Cavanaugh, and Kansas Beckett meet outside a burning battered women’s shelter in Aurora, Ca. Kansas, the fire department’s investigator, is pulling women out and Ethan is on the task force investigating a series of fires. Are the fires arson, aimed at leaving behind ruined structures that can be bought cheaply? Or is a pyromaniac setting fires for the excitement? Either way, the fires have to be stopped before deaths follow. As Ethan and Kansas investigate, an extreme passion flares between them. An exciting conclusion brings the hunt to a close. The writing is good and the characters are fine in this book. However, the book gets off to a bad start, and the hero and heroine don’t act professionally. Instead, at the scene of the fire, they bicker and confront each other. A serious romance needs a serious hero and heroine.
