Kingsbury’s latest is a sweet, yet fairly predictable, story. The portions of the story featuring a reunion of parents and children after coming back to the Lord is incredibly moving, but the love story is less effective and unrealistic.
At the tender age of 15, Ellie and her best friend Nolan share a close friendship that they both wish would move toward something more. But Ellie’s parents go through a terrible breakup and she and her father move across the country, losing contact with everyone. After many years, circumstances come together to reunite the different people, but they have all changed — some for the better, and for others it remains to be seen. (HOWARD, Mar., 352 pp., $22.99)
