Bronwyn is a witch. Not just any witch, but a high white witch whose destiny is to guard the British prime minister and, at his request, an exotic sheik. Once she begins guarding both men the struggle escalates into a battle among witches, warlocks and evil relatives that spans three continents in this bright and sassy novel.

The pace is brisk as Bronwyn keeps abreast of the action while stopping to mix a potion or two--or blow up a limousine filled with evil warlocks. (Explosions are her specialty.) She is attracted to the sheik but can't stop thinking about Dr. Sam back in Texas, where she lives when she isn't saving the world. He's a warlock, which knocks him right off her list of eligible males, but not out of her thoughts.

This is a refreshing, fast-paced entry for Havens, who pulls out all stops to put the world to rights with humor, some good old-fashioned street fighting--witch style--and some well-deserved romance. (Sep., 261 pp., $14.00)
