Returning to the TenHuis Chocolade shop is always a treat. Carl knows how to construct a clever mystery that flows seamlessly with just the right amount of detail. The miscommunication between Lee and her husband regarding an ex-girlfriend adds real relationship conflict to this well-plotted cozy. Chocolate trivia included!

Lee McKinney Woodyard has been asked to replace a retiring library board member in Warner Pier. She attends a meeting there and encounters some very interesting characters. But before she can make a decision, she and the group find the body of the retiring board member at the bottom of the library basement stairs. What first looks like an accident is soon deemed murder. With the entire board, including Lee, under suspicion, can Lee close the book on this crime before a desperate criminal strikes again? (OBSIDIAN, Oct., 240 pp., $22.95)
