It’s like when you find that amazing piece of chocolate — you take a bite, and it sits on your tongue and melts into a pool of liquid heaven: Florand has managed to capture that emotional experience and put it into the pages of her novel. She’s also captured some of the political parts of chocolatiering and mixed in a pretty serious romance to boot. This is definitely a pleasure to read, and the hints for excellent stateside chocolatiers in the back had me firing up Google!

Cade Corey is determined to get Sylvain Marquis, Paris’ finest chocolatier, to sign on to her plan to develop specialty chocolates for the average consumer. Sylvain, whose chocolates are handmade and sought after by the most elite patrons in the world, is horrified by this idea. Cade’s determination, and their mutual attraction, will push them both to the limits of legal and lustful action. (KENSINGTON, Aug., 320 pp., $14.00)
