CHOSEN TO DIE
Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Suspense
This gripping conclusion to last year's terrifying Left to Die leaps right back into events without skipping a beat. To get the full effect of the intricate plot and character motivations, readers would benefit from reading the previous book prior to diving into this literal chiller. Jackson delivers plenty of terror.
Montana detectives Regan Pescoli and Selena Alvarez have been hot on the trail of the Star-Crossed Killer for months. This maniac has been freezing women to death after supposedly "rescuing" them from staged car accidents. The sheriff believes they may have caught their killer, but it turns out to have been a copycat.
On her way to pick up her kids from her ex-husband's, Regan's tire is shot out and she becomes the madman's latest captive. Meanwhile, Selena and Regan's lover, Nate Santana, race against the clock to find her. Can Regan find a way to outwit this cruel killer? (ZEBRA, Aug., 460 pp., $7.99)
