This Christmas novella illustrates the meaning of family and belonging in a way that will help the reader see how sacrifice and faith come together. The setting is during the Great Depression when basic necessities — food, clothing and shelter — were scarce. Goyer gives insight on those who would adopt another into their home during great hardship.

Raised by an Amish family, Rose Yoder learns of her biological parents and siblings and wants the truth. She longs to get married and start a family of her own, but not knowing of her biological roots makes it difficult for her to move forward. Her intended husband tries to bring her the answers she needs in order to make a lasting marital commitment. Will Rose be able to accept that her family made the right decision in letting her go?
