THE CHRISTMAS PRESENT
THE CHRISTMAS PRESENT (4) by Tracy Wolff: Working pro bono to represent Diego, a city youth accused of murdering his pregnant girlfriend, Vivian Wentworth meets the boy's boss, Rafael Cardoza, who runs a city youth center, when he rescues her from a gang of teenage boys. Convinced Diego is innocent, Vivian does her best to defend him in spite of her background as a divorce lawyer. Rafael, initially convinced that Vivian can't possibly save Diego from jail, soon becomes her biggest supporter. Wolff's well-written love story is about two people from opposite sides of the social spectrum with obvious differences. But Rafael and Vivian's love is believable, and there's a suspenseful mystery as they search for the culprit who really did kill Diego's girlfriend.
