In Melissa James' Cinderella's Lucky Ticket (2), Lucy Miles is a librarian engaged to a man who ignores her. When Lucy wins fabulous prizes in a sweepstakes, she's upset to discover a ticket glitch means there's a second winner—a stranger who has already claimed the prizes. Ben, who comes from a family long cursed in love, is happy to let her share the winnings, but he fights his attraction to Lucy. These star-crossed lovers are fated to be together, but a wayward plot makes them wait too long to realize it. Ben's family curse doesn't help the story's focus, and while it's fun to watch Lucy emerge from her shell, it's difficult to believe anyone would put up with the emotional abuse she endures.
