This quick read is a brash, gory zombie tale filled with just about every magical being imaginable. There are zombies, witches, vampires, demons and even a Nazi wizard. The resulting stew is long on quirkiness and short on both character development and plotting. Readers looking for something lightweight might enjoy this, but those looking for more substance should look elsewhere.

Joe Sunday is an enforcer for hire who gets more than he bargained for when his boss sends him to kill a business rival and retrieve a stone. It’s a routine job for someone like him, but his boss left out a few details, including the one about how hard it is to kill someone who’s already 700 years old. In the ensuing fight, Sunday is killed, then brought back to life — but his killer is gone and so is the stone. He soon learns that this mysterious stone has the power to grant immortality, something a zombie could certainly use. Unfortunately, he’s not the only one hoping to live forever.
