CLOSE TO HOME
CLOSE TO HOME (4) by Carolyne Aarsen: Dodie Westerveld and Jace Scholte had been an item since high school. Six years ago they were at college studying to be lawyers, planning on a future together, when suddenly Dodie left with no explanation. Now Jace is back in their hometown, where Dodie lives. Planning only a temporary visit, he begins working on a fundraiser with Dodie. As he gets to know the woman she has become, his desire to find out what caused her to leave turns into determination. But Dodie's not telling; the memories are too painful. This very good story portrays a painful subject in a realistic and sympathetic way.
