CLOSE YOUR EYES
by Iris Johansen, Roy Johansen

Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Suspense

RT Rating

The dynamite team of Johansen & Johansen introduces a terrific new heroine who is prickly, blunt and gifted in the extreme. Blind for the first 20 years of her life, her powers of observation, including smell, touch and hearing, have been deeply honed. Now with vision added, she is unmatched in picking up clues in the world around her. The Johansens excel at producing dynamic stories that wind along twisty and truly terrifying paths. Here’s hoping we’ll see this protagonist again!

Music therapist Dr. Kendra Michaels’ previous involvement with the FBI did not end well. Kendra’s confidence and blunt manner made her few friends. However, although her romantic relationship with FBI agent Jeff Stedler ended, she still considers him a friend. When mysterious former FBI agent Adam Lynch (aka the Puppetmaster) approaches her regarding a case, Kendra refuses, but the news that Jeff is missing forces her to reconsider. A number of people have been murdered and the FBI is having trouble finding a connection. As Kendra and Adam start investigating, they quickly pull some strands together, and what they discover leads them down a heinous and terrifying road. (ST. MARTIN’S, Jul., 368 pp., $27.99)
