When Emily Hastings, the cop's estranged daughter, finds out about this investigation, she insists on being a part of it. Daniel reluctantly agrees to her involvement. Soon they discover that solving this murder will require delving deep into Victoria's past. Things are further complicated when Daniel realizes that he's falling for Emily. Can he keep his feelings for Emily in check and solve this crime without getting her killed in the process?

Webb's writing is very engaging and the reader is left constantly guessing what challenges will confront the characters next. The suspense is further heightened by the tension that builds between Daniel and Emily as they attempt to hide their attraction for one another. (Oct., 448 pp., $5.99)
