With her latest novel, Neggers serves up a story of suspense that will keep you turning the pages. She crafts a clever plot where the focus is on arson and adds strong, gritty characters with a heavy dose of tension between them. The end result is one good read.

Rose Cameron, a search-and- rescue expert, discovers a burnt body in a shed one morning during a search exercise with her dog. It becomes clear that it is one of several crimes committed by the same person. Smokejumper Nick Martini, who co-owns a business with Rose’s brother, ends up at the same site, having followed an arsonist’s trail from California to Black Falls, Vt. Rose and Nick previously spent one night of passion together and bitter feelings remain between them. However, they are determined to put their personal feelings aside to find a killer.
