This seventh installment of the high-octane, relentlessly imaginative urban fantasy series featuring Secret McQueen pushes its steel-spined heroine to her very limits, and will keep readers turning pages with feverish intensity. There are no obvious answers to be found here, or decisions that aren’t heartbreakingly difficult, but there are also a number of resolutions in this story that show how far Secret has come in the course of her journey. Though new readers should definitely start at the beginning of this series, longtime fans will find much to love, meeting the inevitable cliffhanger hungry for more.

Secret McQueen is out for blood. Her quest to stop Alexandre Peyton takes her and the werewolf Desmond on a near-fatal trip to Paris that exposes a truth that Secret would do anything to keep hidden. Just when it seems that matters couldn’t get worse, Secret learns that she has been a pawn in a much bigger, darker game than she could ever have imagined. Now, with the Council closing in and her circle of trusted friends steadily shrinking, Secret is forced to make some impossible choices to save those she loves and make a future for herself that’s all her own.
