Book Review

by Holly Black

Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal

RT Rating

Just when you think vampires have been beaten to a pulp, Black creates an in-depth world filled with horrifying villains and a strong, kick-ass lead. Despite the occasional glut of detail, this is a fun read with a satirical edge toward the glorification of vampirism and celebrity worship. Highly recommended for fans of classic vampires.

In Tana’s world, vampires are quarantined in Coldtowns, where the eternally beautiful run free. When Tana wakes after a party to find her classmates slaughtered and her ex infected, a mysterious vampire on the run insists the only way to save themselves is to escape to Coldtown. But this utopia has darker secrets and higher stakes than Tana anticipated. (LITTLE, BROWN, Sep., 432 pp., $19.00, ISBN: 9780316213103, HC, 12 & Up)
