COLORADO HEART
by Cindy Holby

Genre: Historical Romance, Western, America
Sensuality: MILD
Setting: 1870s Colorado

RT Rating

With heart, compassion and grit, Holby’s second Angel’s End romance is an interesting portrait of the town and the problems it faces as change comes to the range. The even pacing and well-drawn backdrop keeps western fans satisfied, though deeper characterization and a stronger conflict could have added more tension, pulling readers further in.

Cassie Parker moves from Texas to start a sheep ranch in cattle country. It’s a tough winter, and rancher Jake Reece has been snowbound too long when he meets Cassie on his way to town. Cassie’s independence and beauty draw Jake to learn more about her and the secrets she is hiding. Though he’s head of the cattleman’s association, Jake defends Cassie as dangers from ruthless ranchers and her past threaten their blossoming love. (BERKLEY SENSATION, 292 pp., $7.99)
