COME WHAT MAY
Amanda Giles looks very much like her brother, a Union spy. Captain Daniel McGrath does not want Amanda to take her brothers place for a mission. But Amanda wants excitement and adventure. With the success of her first mission behind her, Amanda decides to continue in her new role, following Daniel when he chases after Rebel raiders.
Dan is furious when Amanda is wounded while disobeying his orders and he shows up to play her husband on her next assignment.
Their close proximity, playing Lord and Lady Ashton, leads to feelings that neither want to admit. While trying to leave Richmond, they are almost captured, and the fear and danger allows them to give free reign to their feelings.
COME WHAT MAY is filled with adventure; perhaps too many adventures. Amanda manages to always get herself into trouble with the hero coming to the rescue. Though there is nothing really new in either the plot or the characters, Civil War fans will enjoy an evenings read. SENSUAL (Mar., 350 pp., $5.99)
