Stewart returns to her more romantic roots with the start of the Chesapeake Diaries series, linking this new series to her romantic suspense efforts by focusing on former FBI agent Grady Shields. Family connections and releasing your past are major themes in this romantic drama, which has a hint of suspense. No matter what the genre, you're guaranteed a great read with Stewart.

Vanessa Keaton's family dynamic is complicated. She's estranged from her mother and doesn't know who her father is, but she does have the total love and support of her half-brother, Gabriel Beck. Gabriel, the St. Dennis police chief, is marrying Mia Shields in just days.

When Mia's family, including her reclusive, former FBI agent brother, Grady, arrive, Vanessa and Grady start to hook up, but both have been emotionally damaged in the past. When someone vandalizes Vanessa's shop, Grady gets concerned, because the attack seems personal. (BALLANTINE, Apr., 400 pp., $7.99)
